Lead Maintenance Mechanic (Maintenance Supervisor / Industrial Maintenance Lead)
Location: Modena, PA
Shift: Morning Shift
Pay Rate: $37.38 per hour

Lead Maintenance Mechanic – Heavy Industrial Manufacturing
We are seeking an experienced Lead Maintenance Mechanic to oversee maintenance operations in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. This leadership role combines hands-on mechanical maintenance expertise with team supervision, preventive maintenance planning, inventory management, contractor coordination, and safety program administration.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial equipment maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical systems, leading maintenance teams, and driving equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Leadership & Planning
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve a comprehensive Preventive Maintenance (PM) Program
- Lead maintenance planning and execution for plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and major repairs
- Conduct pre-shutdown and post-shutdown meetings to review schedules, safety requirements, and project outcomes
- Create and manage detailed maintenance work orders, schedules, and labor plans
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of maintenance technicians and mechanics
- Prioritize maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency
Equipment Maintenance & Reliability
- Oversee installation, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment, plant infrastructure, and facility systems
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, instrumentation, and basic electrical issues
- Support production teams in identifying and correcting equipment and process-related problems
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, asset performance, and operational excellence
- Ensure compliance with maintenance best practices and reliability-centered maintenance principles
Inventory & Contractor Management
- Manage maintenance storeroom inventory, spare parts, and critical equipment components
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate procurement of replacement parts and materials
- Oversee third-party contractors, vendors, and service providers performing maintenance-related work
- Ensure contractor compliance with company safety and operational standards
Safety & Compliance
- Serve as a maintenance safety leader and administrator for facility safety programs
- Promote and enforce compliance with OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and company safety standards
- Support and administer programs related to:
- Material Handling
- Working at Heights
- Hot Work Permits
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Storm Water Compliance
- Industrial Safety Procedures
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience in a heavy manufacturing, processing, industrial, mining, pulp and paper, aggregates, steel, cement, chemical, or similar environment
- Proven experience leading maintenance teams, supervisors, or technicians
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in an industrial setting
Technical Skills & Experience
Mechanical Systems
- Bearing installation, alignment, replacement, and maintenance
- Pump maintenance, repair, and rebuilds
- Roll bearing disassembly and reassembly
- Precision alignment and coupling alignment
- Mechanical equipment installation and maintenance
- Rigging, lifting, and material handling practices
Diagnostics & Troubleshooting
- Hydraulic system troubleshooting and repair
- Pneumatic system troubleshooting and repair
- Instrumentation troubleshooting, including:
- Pressure transmitters
- Level sensors
- Proximity sensors
- Distance sensors
- Solenoids
- Basic industrial electrical troubleshooting
Blueprint & Technical Documentation
- Read and interpret:
- Mechanical drawings
- Assembly drawings
- Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Hydraulic schematics
- Pneumatic schematics
- Equipment manuals and technical specifications
Automation & Controls
- Working knowledge of:
- Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Industrial automation systems
- Motor controls
Fabrication & Precision Measurement
- Welding experience required
- Precision measurement using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and alignment tools
- Ability to verify tolerances and equipment specifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Lead experience
- OSHA Safety Training
- Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT)
- Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP)
- Industrial Safety Certification
- Welding Certification
- Mechanical Trade Certification or Journeyman-level experience
Work Environment
- Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, moving equipment, noise, dust, vibration, and varying temperatures
- Extended hours, weekends, emergency call-outs, and shutdown support may be required
- On-call availability during critical maintenance events and plant outages
