Job Description

Pay Rate: $28.00 

 

Sealed Air is seeking a Senior Applications Technician to join the Food Service team at our corporate R&D center in Charlotte. This role provides technical support for product development activities and helps deliver reliable packaging solutions that meet customer needs.
The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of packaging materials, packaging equipment, and standard test methods. Experience with vertical form-fill-seal (VFFS) equipment is preferred. Familiarity with food or meat science and an understanding of how packaging and environmental conditions affect food products is a plus.

 

Key responsibilities include setting up and running application and performance tests, operating and maintaining packaging equipment, collecting and documenting test data, and assisting with product and packaging trials. The role also supports in-plant customer activities, including equipment setup, troubleshooting, and basic operator training.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Conduct application and performance testing to evaluate new materials and packaging systems under real-world conditions 
•    Operate and support VFFS equipment for material and system trials 
•    Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and upkeep of packaging and testing equipment
•    Collect, document, and report test data and observations 
•    Assist in shelf-life testing for food products, including protein applications 
•    Create samples and prototypes to support sales, marketing, and customer evaluations 
•    Troubleshoot equipment and process issues; support basic root-cause analysis 
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development and implementation 
•    Support customer trials, in-plant activities, customer trainings and solution rollouts
•    Maintain a clean, safe work environment, report problems and/or problem areas to supervision
•    May require travel up to 20% for activities such as field trials, customer and supplier visits; attending meetings, trainings, conferences, etc. 

Qualifications

•    Associate degree or technical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting packaging equipment 
•    Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail 
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) 
•    Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety 
•    Ability to interact effectively with internal teams and external customers, delivering a high level of service 
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills 
•    Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment 
•    Self-motivated with the ability to achieve results with minimal supervision
