Pay Rate: $22.00
It is the press trainee’s responsibility to assist with the safe operation of the PCMC flexographic printing presses at SPO to produce material that meets current quality standards at optimum rates and yields. This responsibility includes the performance of all tasks necessary to achieve proper press operation, including verifying that any assisted tasks prior to or during your shift were performed safely and correctly.
Works in a team environment to plan, organize and direct manufacturing processes. As a team member you must follow all safety, quality, plant, GMP and safe food handling rules; while contributing to the high-performance work environment by assisting when needed, helping fellow operators troubleshoot, training/coaching other team members as necessary to enhance the overall profitability of the plant.
The Press Trainee is responsible for assisting with the safe operation of flexographic printing presses to produce material that meets current quality standards at optimum rates and yields. This responsibility includes the performance of those tasks necessary to achieve proper press operation but is not limited to the items listed below.
• Interpret and use production schedules.
• Operate the press in a safe and productive manner
• Manage fluids such as inks and solvents (ensure proper labeling)
• Load and unload rolls of printing materials
• Inspect incoming materials for visible and measurable attributes
• Perform some maintenance and cleaning as required
• Thread materials through the press
• Perform quality checks on printed materials
• Continually monitor quality while press is in operation
• Ensure materials and equipment are available in advance
• Daily interaction with computer software including data collection
• Operate specialized equipment necessary for proper function of the press
• Perform other duties as required for achieving the goals of the team
• Follow SOPs and SOCs
• Follow GMP practices and hygiene policies
• Collect, evaluate, and retain product samples to ensure product meets customer and/or regulatory requirements
• Perform proper labeling of all materials
• Perform Positive Release and Set-up Checklists to ensure that the materials used are correct and the correct machine settings are used and documented
• Follow non-conforming/deviation procedures as required when needed
• Follow FIFO (First in First Out) procedures
• Conduct training and/or coaching of trainees utilizing EATs, Standard Work and on the job training (OJT)
• Keep up to date with revisions by applying new knowledge to your job
• Monitor equipment, gages, dials, and other visual indicators to ensure the equipment is working effectively and efficiently for optimal product quality
• Provide adequate turnover/proper communication to the incoming operator
• Maintain a safe work area
• Perform other duties as defined by the plant leadership
