Welder (MIG/TIG) – 1st Shift | Metal Fabrication | Ayer, MA

Location: Ayer, Massachusetts
Job Type: Full-Time
Shift: 1st Shift (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM)
Pay: $23.00–$25.00 per hour

Sealed Air is hiring an experienced MIG/TIG Welder for our equipment manufacturing facility in Ayer, Massachusetts. Key Responsibilities

As a Welder, you will:

  • Perform MIG (GMAW) and TIG (GTAW) welding on steel, stainless steel, and aluminum components.
  • Read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and welding specifications.
  • Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, fitting, and preheating metal prior to welding.
  • Inspect welded assemblies using measuring tools, templates, straightedges, and gauges to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Operate thermal cutting equipment including plasma cutters and oxy-fuel/flame cutting torches.
  • Select appropriate welding rods, filler metals, torches, and cutting tips based on material type and thickness.
  • Fabricate, repair, and assemble metal components according to production requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, quality control, and production efficiency.
  • Follow all OSHA safety standards, company safety procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives and contribute to continuous process improvement.
  • Perform additional manufacturing and fabrication duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

 

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years of MIG and TIG welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of metal fabrication experience.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and fabrication specifications.
  • Experience working with steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Knowledge of welding equipment, fabrication tools, machinery, and preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to identify different metal types and apply proper welding techniques.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments including calipers, tape measures, squares, and gauges.
  • Understanding of proper heat settings, weld penetration, and distortion control.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds safely.
  • Strong communication skills in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Self-motivated with excellent attendance and a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:

  • AWS Certified Welder (CW) certification.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma, 5S, or Continuous Improvement.
  • Previous experience in equipment manufacturing or industrial production.
  • Knowledge of welding inspection standards and quality assurance processes.
